Legal Status of Cocaine in Seville

Cocaine is prohibited in Seville. Spanish law classifies cocaine as a controlled narcotic, and trafficking, distribution, or possession with the intent to traffic may amount to a criminal offense. According to Article 368 of Spain’s Penal Code, cocaine trafficking offenses involving substances deemed seriously harmful to health can result in 3–6 years in prison along with a fine of one to three times the value of the drugs. 
Simple possession, however, is handled differently based on the circumstances. Possession on its own is not automatically a criminal offense if there is no proof that the drugs are meant for trafficking. Yet illegal possession or consumption in public places, public establishments, streets, or on public transport is an administrative offense that can be fined between €601 and €30,000.
